Day 7 - July 29, Part 2

Yesterday I shared all about Kaylie's birthday...

Today I will share about the rest of the day.

(Our family picture for the day.)

First I wanted to do some family pictures, even though I didn't do my hair that day...
and in most, someone looks like they're in pain because of the sun.
These are fun pictures, that I like.

We ended up getting a thunder storm with pretty heavy rains.

We had the porch cover out and Jeff was pushing up on the canvas,
so the water wouldn't get too heavy.

He didn't realize that the water would run to the side rather than the front...
Tanner happened to be standing in the wrong spot.

"I'm so sorry."

All's forgiven, and we ALL can laugh now.

We entertained ourselves while waiting for the rain to pass.

We then did more driving and exploring on nearby roads...
and checked out a nearby "lake", with lots of ducks.

We saw this fox which made us want to get closer,

so we had to "gun it" to make it up this road,

and then the boys went for an unexpected hike...

which Tanner was wearing flip flops!

These are the "steps" Preston made to make it easier for Tanner to
get down the steep decline.

We then saw this rainbow...

I have never looked down through a rainbow.
I found my treasure at the end of the rainbow!

Then I saw another rainbow...

which I'd been wanting to see one all week,
and I got two in one day.

We saw several deer, and this one was right by the van.

We made the most of our last day at the cabin and filled it with memories.

Day 3 - July 25

Our family picture for the day.

We decided to go for a hike on a nearby trail.

Jeff was a little surprised that I was going to join the family on this hike...
(shhh...I don't really enjoy hiking.)

We had to stop and take some pictures, at the trailhead, by the stream, before we began hiking.

We start out with lots of energy and excitement...

and Jeff's philosophy is, if the kids can take a lot of little breaks then they will go further...

...so we did...

...There were sit down and rest breaks...

...pose for a picture breaks...

...drink breaks....

...emulate the animal kingdom (Kaylie reminded me of a baby calf)....

..."takin' care of necessities" breaks...

...and of course
FOOD breaks!...

From my observation this is the #1 reason my kids hike!

There was exploring...

...and enjoying the scenery.

We didn't make it to the summit like Jeff wanted,
(which I believe would have been an all day adventure.)
But the kids and I were done!

Going down was much faster than the trip up,
and by late morning it was getting pretty warm.

WE DID IT!
