:(

So my baby...

My babe...

the one on the right...

has pneumonia.

He finally was in enough pain, that he gave in and went to the walk-in clinic this afternoon.

He has been complaining about his back hurting since Thursday,
and that when he took a breath it hurt.

He thought it was maybe a pulled muscle.

It's not.

Let's pray for quick healing, and that nobody else gets it.

3 Weeks!

I can't believe it has be 3 weeks since I did anything on here.
It's not that there hasn't been anything going on...
there's just been too much to sit down and take time to think and blog.
We've been to see three different doctors,
Tanner came away with a strep throat diagnosis,
Kaylie just had a virus,
and my appt. was the dreaded one that no woman enjoys and likes to discuss.

We've passed around at least 3 different types of viruses.
1 stomach bug, 1 with a wet cough, and another with a sore throat.

We also had our spring break in there where my sister and nieces came for the week.

We've also gotten two snow falls where we've gotten dumped on.

That's a very short synopsis of our life in the past 3 weeks.

I am going to go back and share in more detail on a couple of the above mentioned events.

Here Again

Here I am again...

It's been a week and a half and I haven't done any blogging. I was even so close to being "caught up" on here. I've started the next post, it's in my draft box.

What's been taking my time?

August 28 & 29 - A Beth Moore simulcast. It was awesome. I always learn lots under her. I went wanting a "revelation" in areas of my life "over here", but instead He gave me revelations "over there". Wow! That took me by surprise...so I've been dealing with that.

School - I've been trying to get into a swing of things... we've started but we're in NO swing.

Just Me - I've still not been feeling "normal". Even though I took some antibiotics for most of my 10 day prescription, I still don't feel right. I have no more pain in my kidney, but I still am really tired, sometimes I just feel weak and shaky, nauseated some. What's if from? I don't know. I'm thinking of going in this week to get re-checked out.

These are the reasons I've not been on here, but one day I will get caught up. I WILL.

Three Stories

Story #1

I thought I would throw in how things are going now, in the midst of all my catching up. If you are a Facebook friend, you have probably read about our little adventure on Sunday.

The kids and I get to church and I go into Jeff's office to grab all of our name tags and then I start heading down the hall. The kids have already ran to the front of the church, which is on the complete opposite side of Jeff's office. The next thing I know is the fire alarms are going off, lights are flashing on the alarms, and a lady is telling everyone to exit the building. I see my kids pop out from the front and Preston is pointing at Kaylie. I just turn around and head right back to Jeff's office.

I walk in there and he asks what's going on. I just informed him that I think it was one of our kids and he can go deal with it. As we walk out of the office, everyone is chuckling and trying to decide, do I exit or stay in. Our worship leader made the call, and said we might as well go out and get the practice. Thankfully, this happened around 9:00, 30 minutes before church starts, and not too many people were there.

One kind man, was on top of things and immediately called and told them it was a false alarm but the firemen still have to come out. There were no sirens, only lights, but my kids were out front jumping and waving them to the right place. Once the firemen came, I had to go finish my morning duties.

Later that night Jeff filled me in on the rest of the firemen story....

When the firemen were filing out of the firetruck, Jeff went out and met the "man in charge" and let him know that it was a kid in the church who pulled the alarm and "could you talk to 'em." The fireman said, "Yea, where's the BOY." Jeff said, "Actually, it was my four year old daughter who pulled it." I then had to ask what the reaction of the fireman was and Jeff said he smiled and then asked where she was.

At that point, from what I gather, Kaylie was under one of the secretaries desks on a shelf curled up in a ball.

I asked, "Jeff, were you able to get her out."

"Yeah, but not until the firemen left."

Story #2

We had just gotten home after eating out, after church. There had been some discussion whether or not to make the kids lay down to rest. Originally I thought, "No, because then they could go to bed early." But then I realized if they don't lay down then Jeff and I can't take naps.

Somewhere in the mix of getting everything into the house from church, the kids had hooked up and started playing with a couple of neighborhood girls. Jeff and I sat on the couch and were talking about the day and the next thing we know, Landon runs in and says Kaylie was hit with a dart and it's sticking out of her arm. Just seconds later, Kaylie walks in with blood dripping down her arm, no dart.

Jeff immediately jumps up and asks if I want to take care of her or go outside and take care of things. I chose her.

Come to find out, the two older boys grabbed the darts out of the garage (which they aren't suppose to touch without adult supervision) and take them out in the front yard. I think they started with just throwing them up in the air and letting them land in the grass. But somewhere in that short 15 minutes of being home, Preston challenges Tanner with, "I bet you can't hit me with that [the dart]." So that is where the game begins. Three boys, which are mine, and four girls, only one is mine, is playing dodge the dart. At first the game was Tanner throwing the darts at everyone else and then a neighbor girl decided to join Tanner's team and then it was 2 against 5.

Once again, from what I can gather. Kaylie getting hit with the dart was an "accident". She was picking a dart up off the ground when she got in the way of the dart Tanner threw.

Jeff sent all the neighbors home and made our kids come in. It took a little while to get the story out and then we sent them to bed while Jeff and I were going to talk about the consequences. The next day was when they were dealt the full punishment.

Story #3

This one isn't about the kids, but just a little update on myself.

Yesterday, right after lunch I started getting sharp pains on my right side, right underneath the rib cage. It wasn't a constant pain, but when it came, it was very intense and it took by breath away. The very first pain lasted maybe a couple of minutes, but after that, it would only last seconds. After not sleeping last night, I decided I would go to a walk-in clinic as soon as they opened.

Apparently when they say they open at 8:00, that's not what it really means, because that's when I showed up and there were 3-4 people in front of me. Anyhoo...to make this short... they did a urinalysis, and they found blood and the my white blood cells were high. The PA thought that probably meant infection, BUT it could be kidney stones or gallbladder. She gave me an antibiotic, not penicillin based, which reading the possible side effects will bring you to your knees, they are so scary. She also said she could do a CT Scan. After talking to Jeff we decided to go ahead and schedule the scan, I got a call about 30 minutes later and she wondered if I could go in, in about 2 hours.

Got my CT scan done just fine, and then I got a call saying that it was negative for kidney stones and that it was normal. That apparently means there were no gallstones or anything else causing my pain and nausea. That is a praise! Now we can just pray that all is taken care of with this antibiotic and that the medicine will do only good and no harm. (Coincidentally, my dad was just put on the same exact medicine because his incision wound is now infected.) As my mom says, "You and your dad are bonding over this." :o)

That's my past few days...hope yours has been a little better!?!

Another ER

I've talked before about us visiting ER's when we are out of town here...well we got our ER visit out of the way before we even got to our destination.

Today we headed out from grandma and grandpa's around 8:30 am. I started out the day very tired and grumpy. I had a boy in my bed who tossed and turned and moaned all night because of his stomach...his digestive system was working a little slow (shhh that means he was constipated, and we have been dealing with it for 5 days.) My goal then became to get to Aunt Theresa's as fast as possible so we could try to get some apple juice in his body. We even had to forgo stopping and saying "Hi" to Aunt Tammy in Wichita.

About an hour out from Theresa's, Tanner started to really cry and "freak" out because he was in a lot of pain. He wanted me to stop because he wanted me "right now". We probably went 5 miles looking for someplace to pull over. (My family has learned not to pull over and stop on the shoulder unless there is no other choice.) The first place we came to was an exit to Guthrie Oklahoma. I noticed when exiting off of I-35 that there was a blue "H" sign, so I filed that info in my brain. We then pulled into a gas station and Tanner and I got out. By this point he was basically hyperventilating and he felt like he was going to throw up. He also kept saying he didn't want to die. I assured him that he wasn't going to die and I then asked him if he wanted to see or doctor or try to make it to Aunt Theresa's. He picked the doctor because he just wanted to feel better. (Writing this makes it sound like it was all calm...it wasn't.)

We then headed through the town of Guthrie following the "H" signs, with Tanner saying "go faster", "quit talking and hurry up." We finally saw the hospital/emergency sign and we followed all the red signs to the emergency entrance. The kids and I headed into the hospital. Tanner was bent over in pain crying and moaning, Preston carrying coloring books and crayons for all the kids, Kaylie trying to reassure Tanner, and Landon just running along. They couldn't get us checked in fast enough and then the dr. couldn't get to us fast enough. Tanner got to the point where he was even willing to get a shot to feel better...and that is so not like Tanner. We also did lots of praying! He ended up having to get the dreaded "E word" but after the initial screaming, once he went to the bathroom he felt like a totally different person. Come to find out that the colon was actually so full that it was somehow blocking him to be able to urinate fully. So he pottied and pottied and pottied some more. After doing all of this he was so excited that he felt so much better that he said, "I just thank God that he made doctors!"

Theresa drove up to Guthrie to meet us, and she helped watch the other kids while he went and got x-rays and while Tanner got some blood drawn. We then waited for what seemed like an hour just to get results and to get the papers to be released.

Tanner feeling MUCH better. Note his sticker, his hospital bracelet and under his fingers you can see his bandage from them taking some blood.

Aunt Theresa rushed up to sit with us.

All the kids piled into Aunt Theresa's Pilot to ride back with her, and here they are waiting for their slushes from Sonic.

We all got a special treat at Sonic, we hit rush hour in Oklahoma City, picked up the girls, went to eat and visited our favorite store, Mardel. We are now ending the very long day...Theresa is praying with all the kids, Matt just got home, and I'm trying to get this posted so I can go to bed.

2 AM???

Right now it is a little after 2:00 in the morning. What am I doing up!?! I have two sick kids right now. Kaylie was running a fever, anywhere from 102 to 103.7. The sad thing is I didn't catch it until we all shared an Icee! She didn't really want to eat lunch, but that's not unusual, and she wasn't really acting too different. We then headed out to buy a birthday gift for a neighbor girl... the kids were invited to go to Chuck E. Cheese for her party Sunday afternoon. They were all looking so forward to it and now we'll see if any of them get to go :( ... I did notice she was acting and looking really tired, I had to carry her in to Target and then she wanted to be in the cart. I just figured she was tired because it was their typical nap time.

After shopping I thought it would be nice to take some time and sit and share a drink. Now I haven't had a pop since Jan. 2, and I'm really trying to keep my kids off of it too. So I thought we would get an Icee! Does a Coca Cola Icee count as a pop??? I decided it didn't so that's what we got! ;o) Like I said earlier, we, the kids and I, shared this Icee. We had two straws and we kept passing it around where two of us could take turns slurping this special treat. Three-fourths of the way into the drink I sat Kaylie on my lap and THAT is when I felt her forehead.

Around 11:00pm, I went in and checked on Kaylie. She was feeling cool, so the Tylenol was doing it's job. Well Landon, then started fussing because the hall light was shining in his eyes and they were "hurting". So I went in to soothe him and ,yep, he was hot. He then ended up coming into our bedroom because his tummy was hurting. I had him crawl up in bed by me, I took out the thermometer that I had placed on my headboard because I was sure Kaylie would be in during the night and I wanted to have it handy. I took his temp and it was 100.?, and I grabbed our "throw up can". We got maybe an hours worth of sleep and then we were up in the bathroom, doing 'you know what'.

That then leads me to here. I couldn't go back to sleep. I'm not feeling to well. Is it the power of suggestion? or am I sick? I guess only time will tell. I decided to get up and share rather then to toss and turn in bed.

I hate to have my kids sick, but they can be so darn sweet when they are! They love to sit by me and cuddle with me. They can be so agreeable, things can almost seem easier for a time! Here's a picture of Kaylie when she fell asleep sitting by me. One minute she was looking at pictures with me on the computer and the next she had laid her head down and she was out.

Some of the "sweetness" that comes when children aren't feeling good.

Day 1

The beginning of our holiday's did not start out too well. On Monday, from morning to night, I worked and worked at getting ready to leave town. After doing piles of laundry, getting church things done and packing for five us I was able to go to bed fairly early at 11:30. (Now Jeff didn't get to bed until a little after 2 am.) Our goal was to be on the road no later then 9:00.

At 2:30 Preston came in saying he felt like he was going to throw up and he couldn't find the "can". (The "can" is a large Hunts Ketchup can which is like an old coffee can, it's perfect for portability, ie as in a vehicle or by a bed at night. It's also better then a big bowl because there isn't the rounded bottom so there is no "splashing" back in the face.) He was then told just to go to the toilet. He tried and didn't make it. I have the best husband in the world because he always cleans up the throw up! (If I tried, I would be adding my own stomach's contents to what was already there.) So after 20 minutes of sleep Jeff was back up, cleaning off the bathroom floor and all that goes with that. He finally got to go back to bed around 4:00 and then it was my duty to stay up with Preston. (The whole time Jeff was up cleaning, I was awake also, I wasn't sleeping!)

As I was laying in bed, and Jeff was cleaning the bathroom, all I could think about was what we were going to do about Thanksgiving and traveling back. All of my kids had been counting the days until we left for Kansas. I knew that they would be soooo disappointed if we didn't get to leave when we had planned. I knew my mom got up at 4 something CST, so I waited until 4:00am MST to give her a call. She said, "I want you to come." So the decision was made to keep an eye on Preston to see how he was doing when the time came and that we would more then likely head out that day, just not as early as originally planned.

Around 11:00 we headed out on the road. About 10 minutes on the road Preston started heaving. We pulled over got our cleaning stuff out. Sterilized the "can" and sprayed the van with some Lysol and we were back on the road again. We were all very thankful that ended up being the last of the stomach issues! Today Preston seems to be back to normal. He is running, playing and eating.

When we hit our destination, I then was able to go and pick up the long awaited and anticipated Gambino's pizza! They have the BEST sausage pizza and the only time I get it is when we visit Kansas. That was the end on day 1.

Got a "bug".

The past several days we have had a 'bug' going around our house. It doesn't seem to be too severe, fever, tummy ache, & sore throat. At first I didn't think it was going to last too long but now I am wondering. Kaylie started on Friday and she seems to breaking out it a rash today. :( My kids seem to get things one at a time so it extends how long we are house bound. That can get very weary.

I think I'm fighting it off also because I've been feeling weak and tired. That makes it harder to deal with the extra fussiness. But one thing I love when my kids are sick is how cuddly and loving they are!

Just thought I'd share what I've been dealing with in life these past few days.
