The Leadership Summit Day 1

Today has been a great day but also a very long day. Today was the first day of the Leadership Summit. There were a lot of great speakers and a lot of great information. My alarm was set for 6 am we left and 6:30. We then got home 12 hours later, and was very exhausted. We had just under 30 people from our church go to this conference.

There were so many things to take in and apply. Here are some of the impacting lines that I wrote down:

By Gary Haugen, president and CEO of International Justice Mission,

• If God's passionate about getting it done, then He's responsible for getting it done.
• Jesus didn't come to make us safe but to make us brave.
• Some are on the journey with Jesus but missing the adventure.
• I risk the vulnerability of a child to see the strength of my Father.
• Lead them on a more demanding climb where it is unsafe to go without God. They'll either run to God or quit pretending.
• Somethings wrong if Jesus' yoke is light and mine is heavy.

• A leaders job is to cultivate the soil for the people to grow.
• We have to be willing to get our hands dirty.
• Am I leading more like Jesus or more like the Pharisees
• Do you see the masterpiece or mud [when looking at people]?

Bill Hybels was great and gave some great practical tips. Here are some axioms he gave that he goes by,

• Get the right people around the table.
• Facts are your friends.
• When something feels funky, engage.
• This is church.
