Today was a day of 'firsts'. I have joined a women's Bible study on Friday mornings. This is a good day for me because it is Jeff's day off and he is able to stay home and do school with the older kids while I get away. I haven't been involved in a women's Bible study group for several years so I was and still am looking forward to this experience.
I did start with some nerves. I am more introverted in a crowd and around people I don't know. I become more extroverted around family, friends, and those I am comfortable with. This study is held at another church so I am totally going in with not knowing ANYONE.
We are actually going to be going through the book, "Can We Talk?" by Priscilla Shirer. This book is suppose to help us to actually hear God talk to us. It helps us to dig in the Word and we are to pore into Scripture and let God speak into our lives. I don't know if I completely understand what it is all about, therefore this may not be making sense to you either.
We were separated into discipleship groups and there will be 8 -9 ladies in a group. I believe I got into a good group, hopefully friendships and support will develop quickly in each of the groups.
Today was also the first day of some extra-curricular home school classes for my boys. The home school group that I have just joined meets at the same church that the Bible study is held at. (That is the main reason I ended up joining the Bible study.) The boys were very excited to go today and have been anxiously waiting all week for this day.
The two classes that all my boys are taking are cooking and art. Tanner is the one who has been really wanting to take cooking. He is also the one who is always asking me if he can help me cook. I think Preston and Landon are just along for the ride. I didn't know how I felt about my boys taking "cooking" but then I was reminded, by a great influence in my life ;), of the all the great chefs and how many of them are men. I then decided that I would much rather have them take "cooking" then "baton"! (Which I do have to say that I had a boy who really wanted to take "baton" because he thought it would be cool to throw something in the air and catch it. I'm sure he will be embarrassed about this memory when he gets older ;oD)
Today they made Fruit Pizzas. I only had one incident where Landon went running out of the kitchen crying! He didn't want to help so he ended up decorating his recipe book (3x5 index cards on a spiral) with stickers the whole time. Preston enjoyed using a knife to cut the fruit, and Tanner enjoyed helping make the frosting. Then they all got to enjoy the "pizza" when it was done. (Sorry I don't have any pictures, I forgot my camera.)
In their "art" class they are going through Thomas Kinkade's drawing basics. Preston really listened and was able to answer all the questions the teacher asked. He really enjoys painting, drawing, and being creative. I was also very amazed at how well Landon did with the drawing. He was able to draw a sailboat very well by watching Thomas Kinkade do it, and was even able to draw it later today. Now Tanner....I don't think that drawing is a natural gift that God gave him. Lets just say that he is much more natural at sports (just about any sport) and PS2 (doesn't that qualify as some type of gifting in a child?!?).
That was about the gist of my day.

I think it's awesome that your boys are taking cooking and art. That's great! And fruit pizza-YUMMY!
I hope your Bible Study ends up being fabulous for you. I'd love to be there and be in your group!
Keep us posted on how that's going.
