Out to the Ball Game

Our family tries to limit how many outside activities we are a part of, but when Preston was 5 and 6 years old we let him be part of T-ball. Tanner then wanted to play so bad and the summer he was old enough was when we were in the middle of a move to Wichita. When we moved to Colorado we signed Tanner up for Coach Pitched baseball. (That's when their own coach pitches to them 3-5 times and if they haven't hit the ball then they bring the "T" out.) This year is Landon's year.

Landon's team is the Red Sox. When practicing started it was pretty much like his first swim lesson. He refused to do anything and he sat at the edge of the field watching everyone. By the next practice he was ready to get out there to participate. I'm sure it was a help that Jeff is out on the field helping out the coach.

Saturday (5/9), was the league's opening ceremony and Landon' first game. It made for a long day but we couldn't have asked for better weather. It was upper 50's to lower 60's and sunny. But out in the sun it's really warm so I was very comfortable in jeans and a t-shirt.

Landon's first game started a little over an hour late, which made for a long wait. There was only two innings because they allow the whole team to go through and bat. During the 1st inning when the Red Sox were outfield, Landon just stood in his spot, "right field", and just watched the balls and let the others catch them. I would say during the 2nd inning the team was looking for a little more action because no matter where the ball went that's were 3/4's of the team went too. Landon ran after every ball and he ended up in left field, and at home plate and every where else. Of course, that is the cutest part of this ages' games. I just hope the two runners from the other team are OK after they got "knocked down" from our team running and tackling the baseball.
