Our Peonies and Our Kaylie

Here are our peonies and Kaylie a year ago, at the end of May, and this year on May 27th.

When we moved here, a year ago, the peonies were already budding and getting ready to bloom. Also note the roses in front of the peonies plants. (Pict. on left)

At the end of the summer Jeff "whacked" (without getting my OK) the peonies and roses down to the ground. As you can see the peonies plants grew back, but the second "bush" only has one blossom, and if you look at the year before there were many. Also, for some reason that I don't know, this year, the stems can't hold up the flowers, so the flowers are laying on the ground. The flowers also seem to be a lighter color this year. If you note the roses, there are some growing back and I'm seeing a couple of buds, but there's not much there.

I need to do some research this summer to know what to do with both the peonies and the roses when the fall comes.
