Yesterday was Kaylie's first day of "gymnastics" or officially it is called Tumble Tots II. I asked Jeff if he could watch the boys for this first day because I had no idea where I was going, what to expect and I figured Kaylie didn't need the extra distractions.
Going into this, I've been a little concerned about Kaylie not listening to the "teacher". She is known for getting that "you can't tell me what to do" attitude. So I had a couple of nonchalant chats with her about listening to the teacher and doing everything she's told to do. I'm not sure if any of that helped.
There were five kids in this class, and it was pretty obvious that the other kids were a little experienced, where as, this was Kaylie's first time.
To say the least, Kaylie was VERY excited. I think a lot of her not doing what she was told, was excitement not rebellion. Her goal was to get through the "course" as fast as she could, not to do it exactly as she was told. There were many times where her tummy was practically touching the back of the student before her...and one of the "rules" was to wait until the other person is done then you can go.
Another constant struggle for Kaylie was...lines. Many times when told to get in line behind the teacher, she was in front of the Ms. Becca looking up at her... as to say..."What are we doing next!?! Tell me! Tell me!" I do have to say, that she has not been in any formal situation where she has had to learn to stand in a line. My plan's are to work on that this week! Her whole class is about the size of our family...it'll be perfect. As we are practicing "lines", we are also going to practice standing at the back of the line. For not having any training in "standing in lines" she has "cutting" down pretty good. There were many times that she "cut" in front of someone so she could be closer up front. (That's a little embarrassing as your sitting there with the mother's of the kids she's shoving herself in front of.) Practice, practice, practice. :o)
Ready to go.
Taking a peak at all the "new" stuff.
Some stretching with Ms. Becca
In a line, headed to the first "event".
(You probably can't see but her tongue is sticking out, and it did most of the time she was working on things!)
Getting ready to "listen" to Ms. Becca.
Flipping over the bar.
Jumping on the trampoline.
A star and a stamp for a job well done.
This is my first time trying to post videos...hope it works! These videos are of Kaylie going through her "Bar" course, the balance beams, and on the trampoline. Sorry about the moving around, I was trying to get the hang of it.

Julie,
I loved everything about this post. I didn't realize her hair had gotten so long again. It grows fast! She is VERY coordinated. I couldn't even do a straight cartwheel on the Varsity cheer squad.
I loved, loved, loved this! You have to do this every week! I love my Kaylie Joy! Once she gets down the listening part she is going to be awesome!!! Your video was awesome... I was only concerned once when we were staring at the wall for a bit but you recovered nicely!!!
Awe...she is so cute and her hair HAS grown quickly! I love her exhuberance! Her middle name is what she is!
