July 17 - Celebrating Moms Birthday

As you read here, mom was here for her birthday. So we got to celebrate together. As us girls always got to as children, mom got to pick what she wanted for her birthday meal and what kind of cake she wanted.
Mom's Choice:
  • Rotisserie Chicken
  • Rice Pilaf
  • Garden Salad
  • Kaiser Rolls with Butter
  • Angel Food Cake with Pink Fluffy Frosting
Since it was mom's birthday I didn't want her having to do the work, so this was my first time EVER to make an angel food cake. For some reason it didn't raise as much as they do when mom makes them but it still turned out good. Mom also chose pink frosting because Kaylie was going to originally share this celebration with mom because we thought mom and dad would be gone by her birthday. Mom thought Kaylie would like pink and mom's favorite color is pink.

Mom then got to open her gifts from us.

Mom's gifts, the Snuggie and the bracelet. The whole family did realize that is would be dad who'd more then likely use the Snuggie...he'll look good in pink too! :o)

The bracelet I made mom. It has the grandkids' birthstones next to "GRANDMA" and then us girls' and hers and dads on the strand.

We also let Kaylie open some gifts since she had her hopes up of celebrating with grandma. She finally got a "big" bed.
